Robert Freeman, government relations principal in Cozen O'Connor Public Strategies, discusses the upcoming changes to the transportation industry in Law360. Transportation industry stakeholders are anxiously anticipating legislation implementing President-elect Donald Trump’s estimated $1 trillion infrastructure proposal and reauthorizing the Federal Aviation Administration, as well as new rules integrating emerging technology such as drones and autonomous and connected cars in 2017.

Washington is expected to tackle high-priority items such as reauthorizing FAA programs and debating air traffic control reform and pushing forward the president-elect’s ambitious private investment-backed infrastructure plan. But there also are several new rules being ironed out in 2017 that are stirring excitement among manufacturers, operators, and consumers as to how emerging technologies will reshape the transportation landscape.

“Given the aspects of the infrastructure investment plan the president-elect has proposed, it’s going to be broad and across-the-board, so the interplay between that and tax-reform will be upfront and tackled together I would anticipate,” said Robert.
