Update: Philadelphia City Council to Consider Modified Bill Regarding Restrictions on an Employer's Ability to Inquire About the Criminal Records of Job Applicants

On Monday, March 7, 2011, we issued a client Alert advising employers about a bill recently introduced by Philadelphia City Council Member Donna Reed Miller which would amend the Philadelphia Code by enacting a new chapter entitled “Fair Criminal Record Screening Standards.” The proposed bill (Bill Number 110110) would regulate when and how a Philadelphia employer could conduct criminal background checks on prospective job applicants and current employees. Click here for the entire story.
