Where Allison Works: Washington, D.C.

Allison advises clients on various healthcare issues with a focus on digital health, telemedicine, benefits, reimbursement and various other regulatory concerns. She liaises with Congress, particularly the House Energy & Commerce and Ways & Means Committees as well as Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, on healthcare related matters. In addition to advocating before the executive branch, including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and its sub-agencies, she also monitors federal and state activity impacting healthcare.

Prior to joining Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies, Allison was the Executive Director of State Programs and the Senior Director of Health Policy for The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC), which represents America’s largest employers on health, retirement, and compensation issues. At ERIC, Allison developed two nationwide initiatives focused on shaping state laws and regulations impacting employee benefits, including telemedicine, biologics/biosimilars, and leave issues. Allison also provided policy expertise on a variety of other federal issues and state activities impacting health benefits.

Prior to joining ERIC, Allison specialized in health policy reform and implementation efforts at the National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP), focusing on insurance exchanges. Before joining NASHP, Allison worked on the operations and policy teams of Oregon’s health insurance exchange. Additionally, Allison has legal and regulatory experience working with state regulatory boards at the Oregon Department of Justice.

Allison holds a J.D. from Willamette University College of Law, where she initiated a program in health law and policy and was awarded the college’s first-ever Certificate in Law and Government with an Emphasis in Health Law and Policy. She also earned a Certificate in Dispute Resolution and the Roy Lockenour Award for Professional Responsibility from the law school, and her BA at Willamette University.

Allison is on the leadership team of the Refugee Support Initiative at All Souls’ Church Unitarian in Washington, D.C., where she helps coordinate efforts to welcome refugees and asylum seekers to our community and connect with needed services.
