Governor Hochul stated that she will be running for reelection in 2026. She said, “2026 may be a long way off, (but) I’m running. I’m preparing for that race.” Additionally, she indicated that she will be continuing with Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado as her running mate. The previous four New York Governors who served more than one term have had a different Lieutenant Governor for their second term.
Governor Hochul announced a new nominee to the Commission on Ethics in Lobbying and Government, James Caras. Caras previously served as Special Counsel to Speaker Adrienne Adams in the NYC Council, and General Counsel to the prior Speaker, Corey Johnson, before his retirement last year. He also currently teaches at New York Law School. The Independent Review Committee, composed of the deans of New York’s law schools, will review Caras’ qualifications to serve on the Commission. However, the future of the Commission on Ethics in Lobbying and Government is in question, given a recent appellate decision that found it was created in violation of New York’s constitution.
Ken Fisher has been named to City & State NY’s 2024 Brooklyn Power 100. The annual power list spotlights political players in Brooklyn. City & State NY highlighted Fisher’s successful lobbying to replace New York’s 421-a tax break. Fisher also spoke to his work with developers on proposals for housing over a proposed light rail line and a large-scale battery storage facility on the East River waterfront.
