Mayor Eric Adams Announces Several Budget Initiatives

Last week, Mayor Eric Adams announced several budget initiatives in advance of the release of the Fiscal Year 2023 (FY23) Executive Budget. Adams announced a $900 million investment to combat traffic violence, which will be spent over five years. The investment will advance the goals outlined in the ‘NYC Streets Plan’ and build out street safety and public transportation infrastructure. The Mayor also announced a $171 million annual investment in Safe Haven and stabilization beds, and additional resources for unsheltered homeless New Yorkers. In addition, Adams announced a five-borough expansion of the Clean Curbs Pilot, and during the announcement he unveiled the first containerized waste bins in a New York City commercial district. He also announced an $11 million investment for new street cleaning initiations. The Mayor announced $2 million in funding to help currently residing and newly arrived Ukrainian New Yorkers. Adams will unveil the Executive Budget at tomorrow’s State of the City address.

Mayor Eric Adams Announces Several Administration Appointments

Last week, Mayor Eric Adams announced several appointment to his Administration. The Mayor appointed Margaret Anadu as Chair of the board of directors for the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), where she will lead the agency’s 27-member board. Adams also appointed Jason Graham as New York City’s Chief Medical Examiner. In addition, the Mayor announced 19 members to the Mayor’s Advisory Committee on the Judiciary (MACJ), including George J. Silver as Chair.
