Hochul Raises $11 Million in First Half of 2025 for Reelection and Party Support

Governor Kathy Hochul raised $4 million for her 2026 reelection campaign and another $7 million for the state Democratic Party between January and June 2025. The strong fundraising performance reinforces her position as the likely Democratic frontrunner, despite an expected primary challenge from Lt. Governor Antonio Delgado. Hochul has not yet formally launched her campaign.

Court Orders Adams to Enact Council-Backed Housing Voucher Expansion

A New York State judge has ordered Mayor Eric Adams to implement the City Council’s expanded CityFHEPS housing voucher program, which the administration had opposed due to its estimated $17 billion cost over five years. The plan removes shelter stay requirements, increases income eligibility, and removes work mandates. Adams’ team argued it could strain the housing market and overstates projected costs. The Council maintains that the expansion is necessary to address homelessness and says the cost estimate is inflated. The ruling follows a separate court decision against Adams for blocking a Council-backed ban on solitary confinement.
