The New York State primary elections were held yesterday, June 25, 2024. A select number of legislators had contested closed-party primaries. In November, all 213 positions of the New York State Legislature will be up for election.
With a few notable exceptions, incumbents in Congress, the Assembly, and the State Senate were able to fend off their challengers. Progressive incumbent U.S. Rep. Jamaal Bowman lost his race to George Latimer in the most expensive House primary in the country. Following a scandal, Assembly member Juan Ardila lost his race to Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) member Claire Valdez. Below are some contested races and the results. All results for the primaries are available here. Results below indicate current numbers, which are not yet finalized by the Board of Elections.
