Virginia Richmond

From our office in the state capital, we reach into every jurisdiction in Virginia with deep-seated expertise.

Cozen O’Connor’s Public Strategies office in Richmond is run by a team that is rich in state-wide expertise, including government service, high-level political involvement, and private legal practice. The latter domain reflects the close collaboration between the public strategies firm, and Cozen O’Connor, an Am-Law 100 law firm with a robust practice in Richmond.

Given that the legislative session is highly compressed, at either 46 or 60 days – depending on the year – this high-stakes timing requires 360-degree expertise and insight into what is happening in the offices where business gets done and the halls and corridors that connect them.

Without the right team at your side, it is easy to lose a year, when you can least afford it. We know that months of pre-legislative groundwork, private sessions, and powerful storytelling will pay off when they matter most.

Our clients are diverse, representing our insights into procurement and industries that include education, health care, energy, cybersecurity, gaming, cannabis, beverage alcohol regulation, and real estate. Our consumer practice is robust and includes innovative start-ups from Virginia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Some areas of growing concern and legislative focus – like privacy – operate across all verticals, and we are at the forward edge of those conversations.

While governmental work is at the center of our client representation, our role can best be defined as
advisors and counselors on a broad range of issues; in an interconnected world, the lens of stakeholder relations is required to deliver effective solutions across a broad range of issues.

CPS differentiates itself with both a federal practice and a potent multijurisdictional presence. This is bolstered by one of the largest and oldest state attorneys general practices in the country. We believe this makes us better wherever we serve our clients’ needs. At the same time, our local offices share the same entrepreneurial DNA across our platform, which drives the respect, confidence, and collaboration that is a signifier of all our client relationships.
