About Katie

Katie serves as co-chair of the New York Public Strategies practice, overseeing the development and execution of strategic advocacy campaigns to advance the diverse business objectives of corporate, trade association, and nonprofit clients before New York City and State government. Navigating the dynamics between New York City and Albany, along with their respective legislative, regulatory, and procurement systems, requires a government relations professional well-versed in New York government.

Katie’s previous roles as a government official, nonprofit executive, and government contractor give her unique insight into the role of an effective advocate. Prior to joining Public Strategies, she served as managing director and co-chair of a major New York City government, policy, and government contracts practice at an international law firm. She also held positions as the director of government and corporate affairs for Cemusa Inc., an international street furniture and outdoor advertising company, and as deputy commissioner for comprehensive planning for the Nassau County Planning Commission under former County Executive Tom Suozzi.

Katie began her career in New York City government, serving in the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission’s Office of General Counsel, the Mayor’s Office of City Legislative Affairs, and the Department of Transportation’s Division of Franchises, Concessions, and Consents. After leaving city government, she joined the Alliance for Downtown New York and became the founding executive director of the Oyster Bay Main Street Association in Oyster Bay, Long Island.

Katie’s commitment to improving the everyday lives of New Yorkers is evident through her work on several boards, including the Association for a Better New York (ABNY) Steering Committee, Design Trust for Public Space, Downtown Lower Manhattan Association, and Government Affairs Professionals (GAP). She also serves as chair of the Onancock Economic Development Authority (OEDA) in Virginia.

Katie earned her bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Saint Mary’s College and her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.
