Former Kenney Deputy Mayor of Labor Richard Lazer Appointed as PPA Executive Director

On Monday, the Philadelphia Parking Authority (PPA) unanimously voted to appoint Richard Lazer as its new executive director. Lazer had previously served under Mayor Jim Kenney as deputy mayor of labor, and will be the first Democratic PPA executive director since 2004. The Philadelphia Inquirer has more.

Northeast Philadelphia Home Depot Workers Vote Against Unionizing

Workers at the Roosevelt Boulevard Home Depot in Northeast Philadelphia voted 165 to 51 against unionizing on Saturday evening. The vote comes amidst a flurry of unionization efforts in the city, with notable successes among local coffee shops and several Starbucks locations. Had the vote succeeded, the Home Depot store would have been the first in the nation to have unionized. WHYY has more.
