Governor Josh Shapiro has joined leaders from over two dozen states in a federal lawsuit against the Trump administration, alleging that the federal government is attempting to coerce states into altering their election laws by threatening to withhold homeland security grant money. Filed in a Rhode Island federal court against the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the suit claims the administration plans to withhold up to 20 percent of State Homeland Security Program funding unless states adopt specific voting procedures, such as expanding manual ballot audits and using a federal voter database. The proposed reduction would cost Pennsylvania $6 million in funds typically used for emergency training and public safety equipment. House Passes, Senate Rejects Resolutions to End Iran War
